DHO Computer Support Minimum Hardware and Software Requirements Effective July 1, 2007.
Due to the recent development in Macintosh hardware, allowing booting from either Windows operating system or Macintosh OS X, DHO now will encourage the purchase of Macintosh computers unless otherwise specified by an outside vendor.

Desktop New Purchases
Apple iMac/Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz or better with Intel Duo Core processor, 250 GB hard drive, and 2 GB RAM. 20 inch screen recommended. For ordering and recommendations see the DHO Computer Support to discuss a specific configuration.
Laptop New Purchases
Apple MacBook/Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz or better with Intel Duo Core processor, 13.3 inch screen, 250 GB hard drive, 2GB RAM. For ordering and recommendations see the DHO Computer Support to discuss a specific configuration.
Legacy Macintosh Equipment
Must be a Power Macintosh, at least a G5/ 1.6 GHz, 120 GB hard drive, 1 GB RAM. Monitors are again your choice. Any lab equipment attached to a computer is not supported, just the computer itself. None standard pointing devices, such as trackballs and mouse men, etc. will be supported on a case-by-case basis.

Recommended Basic Configuration
- OS X 10.5.3
- Microsoft Office 2004 or NeoOffice
- Adobe Reader 8.12
- GIMP for Macintosh
- Parallels
- Norton Antivirus version 9, Corporate Edition
- All system configured by the support department come with this software installed. The purchasing party is, however, responsible for buying the software.
PC Hardware

Legacy PC Equipment
Pentium III, 1.6 GHz or better, 20 GB hard drive, 512 MB RAM, 10/100 network card. Any lab equipment attached to a computer is not supported, just the computer itself.

- Windows XP Professional SP3 (DO NOT PURCHASE VISTA)
- Firefox as Default Web Browser (Instead of Internet Explorer)
- Office 2007 Professional or OpenOffice for Windows
- Acrobat Reader 8.12
