Bentson Translational Research Fellowship – Training

Bentson Translational Research Fellows will function primarily in laboratory and translational research settings but also have the option for engagement in clinical patient care and clinical research if desired. Those desiring a primary focus on clinical research and patient care should consider applying for the UW Wolfe Family Clinical Fellowship. Bentson Fellows will have opportunities for direct involvement in:

  • basic cancer research studies in the laboratory setting
  • design, execution and analysis of laboratory experimental work
  • advancement of new laboratory assays and techniques for cancer research
  • design and writing of grant applications for cancer research funding
  • speaking in laboratory research seminar settings
  • manuscript preparation summarizing laboratory research study results
  • scientific writing and grant writing workshops
  • cancer research seminar series and lab meetings
  • formal coursework in research ethics, biostats, research design
  • formal mentorship from a research mentor and an academic advisory committee
