within? (clinical, research and/or medical education)?

I am a third year Medical Physics PhD student am I work in pre-clinical human oncology research.

2. What drew you to the field?

I was fascinated by the application of radiation as a form of cancer treatment and the areas of research that surround this field. Medical Physics offers a unique avenue to work towards refining and optimizing radiation delivery and their collaboration with radiation oncologists supports phenomenal progress

3. What is something you look forward to in your job every day, week, month or year? What’s your favorite part?

It is exciting to be able to come into lab every day with a new question to address, it keeps my day to day engaging and unique. Sometimes progress is slow but being able to look back over a year and realize the advancements you have made and the knowledge you’ve gained is one of my favorite parts of research.

4. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

When I am not at WIMR I enjoy reading, running, yoga, and exploring Madison. Madison is such a fun city with frequent events that I love to check out. And of course who doesn’t love sitting at the Union Terrace with a glass of Spotted Cow!

5. What is your favorite piece of advice from a mentor or inspiring figure in your life?

My Primary Investigator, Dr. Randy Kimple, once told us ‘In a way, science is incredibly selfless and altruistic. Cancer patients need the discoveries and cures we are working towards today. They need the love you have for science and for working for people you will never meet. Because of that, seeking truth and knowledge will always have value’.
